Inspired
by aviation, this watch is designed with the spirit of aviation
pioneers in mind. The watch draws it´s name from the year
1919 when the Danish pilot Cecil Torben Faber took off from
Reykjavik in the Air Iceland´s Avro-504.
The site Faber chose
for his take of is the exact site the British air force later
selected as the perfect area for Reykjavik International Airport
and the cities local airport is still located there today, it
is a point of interest that when the pilot had chosen the field,
Air Iceland had to have permission from the Reykjavik council
to use it for the take of and landing. The location of the airport
area 101, the year of the first flight 1919 and the city Reykjavik
all appear on the dial.
Air Iceland was founded
by a group of prominent local business men convinced that aviation
was the transport of the future, now 87 years later when this
watch is introduced one of the JS Watch co. founders Julius
Steinar Heidarsson flies for Air Iceland.
